Angler Education Kits - Available to borrow!​​​​​

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Aquatic Resources Education Program has a limited amount of fishing equipment available to loan to organizations. Summer camps, scout troops, 4-H clubs, YMCA’s and other education-based organizations are eligible to borrow equipment for free. It is the sole responsibility of the sponsoring organization to pick up, properly maintain, and return the equipment.

Fishing Rods and Tackle

  • ​Rods with reels and common tackle (bobbers, hooks, sinkers) are available.
  • Casting plugs and casting targets can be borrowed separately upon request.
  • Fishing equipment for derbies and events is available on a limited basis.
  • Reserve equipment at least two months or more prior to the event.​

Casting Kit

  • Try to "hook" and reel in a stationary plastic fish to demonstrate accuracy in casting​. 
  • The kit is a tackle box filled with casting plugs and casting targets (Backyard Bass).
  • Rods, reels, and tackle must be reserved separately if needed.

Fish Printing Kit

  • ​Enjoy the Japanese art form of Gyotaku with realistic fish molds.  T-shirts, cards and posters are just a few crafts created with fish printing.
  • Kit includes paintbrushes, paint trays, fabric markers (for tracing without using paint), and fish molds, all in an easy-to-carry tackle box.
  • You will need to supply acrylic paint and paper or cloth for applying the print.  ​
