Park Quest: Rocky Gap State Park

Pollinator Quest 2022 - “Unsung Heroes of the Pollinator World”

Quest Materials

Quest Information

Join us at Rocky Gap State Park to learn about the unsung heroes of the pollinator world. While not all pollinators take part in thousand-mile migrations like the monarch butterfly or have spent generations being cultivated for agriculture like the honey bee, every pollinator in the garden plays an important role in our ecosystems. Participants of the Rocky Gap State Park Pollinator Quest will learn to look beyond the flower and into habitats such as sand and forest to learn about lesser known pollinators such as moths and wasps. Throughout the quest, clues will be gained to unlock a prize that will allow questers to make their own properties more friendly to pollinators of all shapes and sizes.

  • The 2022 Rocky Gap State Park Quest will take place at the sunflower field across from the White Pine Pavilion on Pleasant Valley Road
  • No Day Use entry fee required
  • Available beginning August 5, when the wildflowers and sunflowers are at peak bloom, and may be completed seven days a week from sunrise to sunset
  • The sunflower field consists of uneven and grassy terrain and hills, and the quest will be approximately .5 miles
  • Approximately 1 hour to complete
  • Dogs are permitted in this area of the park, but must remain on a leash at all times
