Pollinator Partners

It's a match!

Pollinators are very important to life on earth. They help to provide food not only for animals, but for people too. Some plants have special adaptations for specific pollinators that will carry their pollen to another plant of the same species, which increases the plant's ability to survive and produce the ingredients needed for an apple pie or pizza. When we understand pollinators, we can help them by providing them with shelter for their eggs, food, and protection from predators.

Participate in Park Quest 2022: Parks for Pollinators at the Elk Neck State Park Nature Center, where you will learn about some local pollinators and their host plants through "Pollinator Partners." Test your matching skills against other players or teams as you try to match all of the tiles.

  • Basic Level: Match the pictures.
  • Advanced Level: Match the pollinators to their host plant; each pair will be marked with a different symbol.

Use the color cards to mark your matches. The player or team with the most matches wins the game.

When you are finished, take a picture of the completed board. Head to the Park Office Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., or the Camper Registration Building Monday - Friday 1 - 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. to show a staff member your picture to get your Park Quest Completion Stamp. Then, head to another area of the park to enjoy the rest of your day.

  • All you will need to bring is your Print-at-Home Park Quest Passport and your game face.
  • The quest will be available from May 30th (Memorial Day) to October 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It should take about 15 - 30 minutes to complete one round. Registration is required.
